(THE STARTUP NATION) RWANDA, A FAVORABLE COUNTRY FOR INVESTMENT

It is true that Rwanda is not in the OHADA zone as I write only on OHADA corporate law themes. However, touched by her history and dazzled by her rebound, I decided to compose this brief article favorable investment climate in Rwanda  .

Today, Rwanda is celebrating 25 years since the genocide (in 1994). 25 years ago was a sore era for Rwanda.

During this period, statistics show that millions of people were killed, about 410 people/day.

INVESTMENT IN RWANDA
Rwanda went from grief to glory by turning out to be one of the top economies in Africa maximizing on attracting more foreign investment.

Rwanda’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has escalated from 752 million dollars to a massive sum of 9.5 billion in 2018. Similarly, inflation has fallen from 101% in 1995 to 1.1% in 2018.

To this effect, The World Bank has been measuring the quality of the business environment around the world every year for the past 15 years, with its Doing Business Ranking.

Most recently in 2018. 190 economies have been studied, using criteria ranging from electrification to the ease of starting a business, tax burdens and protection of property rights. Rwanda is the second country on this ranking after Mauritius moving up from 56th to 41st place. (Although not as spectacular as Nigeria, Malawi, Djibouti and Zambia) which are among the top 10 countries where the economic climate has improved the most over the previous year according to Doing Business criteria. This is a testament to the country's proactive policy. The country is nicknamed (The Startup Nation).

Rwanda’s government proposes immense tax incentives. Research about Rwanda’s tax atmosphere reveals that companies with local entities incorporated in Rwanda with a capital of at least 10 million dollars are exempted from corporate tax. Also, local companies who export at least 50 of locally produced goods pay a low rate of 15 tax.

CONCLUSION
The above mentioned improvement in business standards, GDP growth and the creation of a favourable investments environment are not mare indications. This is the divulgation of   people who have taken their destinies into their hands and decided to do thinks veraciously right especially due to an effective governmental policy through its President Paul Kagame who has for ambition to make Rwanda the “Singapore” of Africa.
As it is now, Rwanda is a very open for investment.  D R O P    Y O U R   I N V E S T M E N T    V A L I S E   I N    R W A N D A.
